About Us

The friendly person who helps at the front desk is a volunteer and member of POCA, Peoples Organization of Community Acupuncture, who believes in affordable acupuncture for all and is helping make that possible at Seastar Community Acupuncture.

Catherine Lowe is a licensed acupuncturist in Oregon. She founded Seastar Community Acupuncture in 2008 after having been an acupuncturist and herbalist in private practice for several years. Catherine earned a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2000, and a Masters of Nursing in Midwifery from Emory University in 1984. She worked as a certified nurse midwife (CNM) in Oregon for the past three decades. She also has postgraduate education as a lactation (breastfeeding) specialist.
Catherine is a member of POCA and is delighted to be part of the community acupuncture movement. POCA is a multistakeholder cooperative, a co-op where the clients, acupuncturists and clinics may all join POCA as members to build a strong community acupuncture movement. See
